I make garlic bread with garlic butter, which you can keep in the fridge for several weeks. You can use garlic butter also for preparing fish in the oven or for seasoning boiled vegetables.
The amount of bread you are making depends on the number of persons you want to serve. I generally calculate 2 big or 4 small slices per head. Slice the bread as thick as you like and toast one side under the grill in the oven. Spread garlic butter over the un-toasted side and put the bread under the grill again until the garlic is slightly cooked and its tantalizing smell has spread throughout your kitchen.
My family likes garlic bread really crunchy. For this you have to toast the bread until the edges turn brown. Be careful not to burn the garlic butter, as burnt garlic tastes bitter.
