Meat balls

Ingredients (for around 8 servings or 50 meat balls):

  • 1 kilo beef minced meat
  • 1 cup soya granules
  • 1 and a half cup of rolled oats
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • pepper
  • oregano
  • basil or fresh mint
  • bread crumbs


Heat half a liter of water and soak the soya granules for around 10 minutes. Clean the garlic and smash it. Put the minced meat in a big bowl. Break the eggs over the minced meat, and add the salt, oats and spices and drained soya granules. Mix everything together until you have dough which can be formed into balls.

Now has come the moment where some patient work is required. Form balls from the mixture by rolling them with your hands. Spread bread crumbs in a plate and turn the balls around in the crumbs so they are evenly coated.

Finally your balls are ready for cooking. You can either deep fry them for around 5 minutes or fry them in plenty of oil in a pan. Deep frying is easier as you don’t have to spin the balls to get them evenly done. Let them rest on kitchen towel to drain excess oil and serve them immediately.
